An Invitation from Chris Thile

Dearest Fellow Acoustic Music Obsessors,

I am ELATED to invite you to the third annual Acousticamp!!! We had so so soooooo much fun playing/singing/listening on bluffs overlooking the freaking Pacific Ocean this past year at the Asilomar Hotel and Conference Center in Pacific Grove, CA, that we’re gonna run it back this coming June 27th through July 1st!

Whether you’re a professional musician looking to widen and deepen your artistry, an enthusiastic amateur ready to take your jam-session game to the next level, or a passionate concertgoer who wants to understand more about and discuss the music you love, this is the camp for you! Prepare for total immersion in the world of acoustic music-making: performance, composition, lyric-writing, improvisation, collaboration, recording, and on and on!

Once again, I’m honored to be joined by a dream lineup of instructors, known as our faculty, including herofriends, Chris Eldridge, Brittany Haas, Paul Kowert, Noam Pikelny, Julian Lage, Michael Daves, and Maddie Witler, PLUS some brilliant first timers like the inimitable Josh Ritter, with many more soon to be announced.

Your days will be filled with instruction that meets you where you are, discussions and Q&A’s to help you determine where you want to be, performances by our faculty AND some very special guests to fuel you on your way, all topped off with jam sessions GALORE between you and your fellow Acousticampers. If the day leaves you feeling more like listening to and discussing music than playing it, I host a nightly listening party where I’ll share a record that has inspired me (over cocktails/mocktails, obviously) and then we all talk about it…I gotta say, this feature of Acousticamp has become one of the highlights of my musical year.

Speaking of cocktails/mocktails, they AND our daily coffee will be WORLD CLASS, presided over by Abigail Gullo of New Orleans’ cocktail bar Loa, and Trevor Corlett of Madcap Coffee Roasters, who will inspire you as you strive to make and appreciate Good Things.

Y’all, this past year’s Acousticamp was downright utopian, and something tells me the next one is gonna be even better. LET’S DO THIS!!!
